Welcome 2016

Happy New Year … Sorry for the lack of posts last year, I have been so busy with clients, that the blog has taken a backseat!

Here are some photos to reminisce over:

“Many of you have asked what is so special about my new Emendee nail table. Well today is just over three months since I got it and check out this pile of nail dust 😷 it’s from the vents and filters. Instead of breathing in the dust and vapours the table sucks it in! This is proof why it’s totally worth the investment. 👍”

… and of course NBV wouldn’t be complete without Lily!

New: Cancellation Policy

I need to share something really important…

Sadly I have found I need to implement a Cancellation Policy. It is designed to reduce the impact on my small home business and avoid excess cost to my clients.

I do maintain a waiting list for appointments but, cancellation of an appointment at short notice does not allow me time to refill the time slot. As you will understand, I am a small home business and this is a frustrating and expensive situation for me.

As a courtesy I will try to text message clients the day before to remind you of your appointment, however if I am unable to reach you please understand that it is your responsibility to remember your appointment date and time.

If you arrive late please be aware you may not receive your full service as your late arrival could result in the next client waiting and will continue throughout the day.

I would appreciate 24 Hours notice of cancellations. A client who provides an inappropriate amount of notice or “no shows” will not be invited to book another appointment, however are more than welcome to call on the day of their preferred appointment and I will do my best to see them that day.

Please make all cancellations/booking changes by phone call or text message. Facebook private messages and emails are unreliable for this sort of communication.

Guide to Make Your Nails Grow

We all want durable nails, so the question is simple:

Do supplements really help you get stronger nails?

Ridges, dents and discolouration or an unusual nail shape can be a telltale sign that something is wrong with your nail health. Did you know nails are made of protein?

  • Biotin, or vitamin B7, is crucial to maintain protein production and can help strengthen weak or brittle nails.
  • L-Lysine supplements can be taken to help build healthy proteins.
  • Try adding protein rich foods like red meat, chicken breast, nuts and sunflower seeds to your diet.
  • Keep hydrated, If you are dehydrated, your nails can become brittle and ridged.

Supplements begin to work on your growing nails, not your currently visible nails, so it could take a few months to see results. It all depends on how quickly your nails grow.

Nails for your School Formal

I have decided to run a special from 1 July til 30 November 2013 – $40 for a fullset of acrylic nails.

Just show your Student ID at your appointment to receive your once off discount.

Apart from the above deal, I can also do gel polish on natural nails if you prefer. These are gel nail polishes which last about 10-14 days on natural nails.

Please send me an sms to book an appointment.

DIY: Plastic Bag Marble Effect

Step 1: Apply a couple of layers of topcoat to a plastic sandwich bag to the area where you want the marble design to be and allow to dry.

Marble Step 1

Step 2: Using colours of choice apply random blobs of polish to the area where the topcoat is.

Marble Step 2

Step 3: Using a dotting tool swirl your wet polish around to create a marble effect and allow to dry.

Marble Step 3

Step 4: Using tweezers once the design is dry carefully peel off the design off the plastic.

Marble Step 4

Step 5: Carefully cut the design to roughly the shape of your nail. At this stage apply a basecoat to your nails and dry to a tacky consistancy. Place the design on the nail. Using a cuticle stick run it down the sides of the nail and near the cuticle to trim the edges off. If any is stuck to the skin use a little bit of nail polish remover on a cotten bud to remove.

Step 6: Apply topcoat and allow to dry.
